Since the start of the 2nd Corona wave, helicopterflights.be was contacted again by FPS Home Affairs & FPS Health to perform a standby for transport of Corona patients between hospitals.
This service is coordinated by the FPS Health and includes helicopters from the Ministry of Defence and other companies.
Due to local peaks of Corona infections there is a greater need for transport and distribution of patients. Today, 14 November 2020, MEDIC1 carried out the 3rd flight in a week to carry out urgent interhospital flights.
MEDIC1 is on increased standby due to this contract with the government. This means that there are shorter response times than normal. In this context, helicopterflights.be has also been granted exceptional permission by the government to land anywhere in Belgium and its employees to travel unhindered, even outside curfew hours.
All medical equipment is permanently connected to mains power at the base in order to be available to the medical teams with full batteries during the flight.
The last few days we flew to UZA, UZ Leuven and ASZ Aalst.
